Waqas Mumtaz is a dual-qualified Chartered Accountant, holding professional qualifications with ICAEW and ICAP. He is the Managing Partner of WM Advisory Group and brings cross-border experience across the UK, GCC and Pakistan.
He holds an MBA with Merit in International Finance from Aston Business School, UK.
Waqas has built a significant part of his professional career within major Pakistani financial institutions, including Habib Bank Limited (HBL) and BankIslami Pakistan, where his work covered internal audit, business risk review, banking controls, risk management and regulatory compliance.
Across his professional career, he has led and contributed to more than 200 audits, reviews and risk assessments covering areas including banking, trade finance, financial controls and regulatory compliance.
His technical experience includes AML/CFT, banking risk, Basel III/IV, IFRS 9 and State Bank of Pakistan regulatory frameworks.
His current cross-border professional work includes statutory and internal audit services in Pakistan through W. Mumtaz & Co., Chartered Accountants, asset finance and block discounting audit consulting for UK clients, and accounting, risk and advisory engagements connected with the GCC and international markets.
